Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities

Profile of the Library: The Library of the Academy is a special library which was founded at the start of the 18th century together with the Electoral Society of Sciences of Brandenburg. It holds a complete collection of all of the publications from the nearly 300 years of the learned society's existence. Today's holdings amount to roughly 650,000 media items and around 730 current journal subscriptions. The library collects texts from both German and foreign academies of sciences and humanities, learned societies and other scientific institutions. Wherever possible, academy texts are collected in complete form. A selection of reference and source books as well as reading room literature is collected. Because of a rehabilitation of the library building at No. 8, Unter den Linden, 10117 Berlin the library is temporarily situated at No. 22-23, Jaegerstraße, 10117 Berlin, the address of the main building of the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. During this period of approximately three years the major part of the holdings is deposed in an auxiliary stack Some exceptions are made thereof, e. g. academy texts, special reference and source books, dissertations, some special collections. The service of the immediate literature provision is also affected thereof. Its user focus are the members and employees of the Academy, external users are heartly welcome as well.

Profil de la bibliothèque: La bibliothèque de l'Académie, fondée au début du 18e siècle, de paire avec la Société électrice des sciences de Brandebourg, possède une collection complète de toutes les publications de près de 300 ans d'existence de la société scientifique. Le fonds actuel se chiffre à environ 650 000 articles médiatiques et à environ 730 abonnements réguliers à des périodiques. La bibliothèque collectionne des textes d'académies des sciences et des lettres allemandes et étrangères mais aussi d’autres sociétés scientifiques. Les textes académiques sont collectionnés autant que possible dans leur forme complète. Ouvrages de référence et sources sont collectionnés sélectionnement. Actuellement la bibliothèque de l'Académie se trouve dans l’édifice principal de l’Académie (22-23 Jaegerstrasse, 10117 Berlin) parce que le bâtiment de la bibliothèque (8 Unter den Linden, 10117 Berlin) est assaini. Dependant cette période d’environ trois ans la plus grande partie du fonds est rangée dans un dépôt de la bibliothèque à l’exception des textes de l’Académie, des collections déterminées et des ouvrages de référence déterminés. La livraison immédiate de la littérature durant cette période est également restreinte. La bibliothèque de l'Académie collectionne de littérature en premier lieu pour les membres et les collaborateurs de l'Académie mais aussi des utilisateurs en dehors de l'Académie sont cordialement bienvenues.
